Fitness Friday: Get Motivated


Happy Friday everyone!

As someone who has been an athlete my entire life, working out is a huge part of my life. Over the last year I haven’t done the best at staying active and eating healthy. This year I am committed to feeling good and looking my best and I hope you will join me. This year I am participating in the 10 Week Wellness Challenge from Live Healthy Iowa!

Live Healthy Iowa brings together friends, families, businesses and communities in team-based wellness challenges designed to promote positive lifestyle change. Over the course of 10 weeks, teams (2-10 people) track activity minutes and/or weight loss through the Live Healthy Iowa website.  Each team member has a personal online dashboard to report progress, monitor progress and access resources.

How do I get started?
First find a program or workout that fits you. Ironically enough, you don’t need an overpriced gym membership to get your best body back! I am planning to get back in shape with the one and only Insanity work out DVD set. I’m insane, I know. But I am determined. For those of you who are looking for a more simple way to get fit, there are many DVD’s, healthy recipes, and daily work out charts you can find on the internet. Just find something and stick to it. Motivation is key.

Also, don’t be afraid to reward yourself for good habits! Working out isn’t always easy. We tend to find excuses to not work out (“I had a long day at work”, “I’m tired”, “Maybe tomorrow”). Hold yourself accountable and the end result will be worth it.
