It’s finally December and with Christmas being right around the corner, your weekends are probably jam packed with holiday events. If you’re expecting to be a guest this holiday season, a polite gesture would be to bring a side dish or some goodies to help contribute to the party. Today, I wanted to share some fun and easy holiday treats that you can take with you to share with your friends and family. Check them out below!

1. Rolo Pretzels
These are by far one of my favorite Christmas treats. Not only are they cheap, but they are quick and super easy to make!

  • Lay out pretzels on a baking sheet
  • Place a Rolo on top of each pretzel
  • Bake in the oven at 250*F for 4-5 minutes (no longer)
  • When you remove them from the oven, the Rolo will still be in the same shape as when it went in the oven. Place an M&M or pecan half on top of the Rolo and press down a bit.
  • Put in the fridge for about 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.

It’s that simple, and they are that good!

2. Oreo Cake Balls

1 package of Oreos
1 8 oz. package of cream cheese (softened)
1 package of white chocolate chips
1 small package of milk chocolate chips

  • Crush the Oreos until they are finely powdered. I put mine in the chopper or food processor.
  • Mix the cookie crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Form into the desired size balls. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to allow for hardening.
  • Melt the white chocolate in the microwave just until it gets melted.
  • Dip the Oreo balls into the white chocolate to cover. Place on a sheet of waxed paper on a cookie sheet.
  • Melt small amount of milk chocolate chips and drizzle on top.  I use a ziploc bag and cut a tiny hole in the corner to drizzle.
  • Refrigerate. Once they harden you can package them into containers, but it is best to keep them refrigerated

3. Rice Krispie Wreaths
These delicious treats are fun, easy to make and perfect for any Christmas party!

3 tablespoons butter
1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
1 teaspoon green food coloring
6 cups Rice Krispies®
  • In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
  • Add food coloring
  • Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
  • Using 1/4-cup measuring cup coated with cooking spray portion cereal mixture.
  • Using buttered hands roll each portion into a log and shape into small wreath.
  • Decorate with frosting and/or candies.

4. Peanut Butter Balls

2 Cups Creamy Peanut Butter
1/2 cup butter
4 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

  • Melt peanut butter and butter in saucepan, over low heat. In large bowl, mix rice crispy cereal and confectioners’ sugar well. Pour melted peanut butter and butter over cereal and sugar and blend together thoroughly.
  • Form into 1 inch or smaller balls, spread on cookie sheets, chill till firm in refrigerator (over night is okay).
  • Melt chocolate in double boiler and keep melted while working with balls. A teaspoon is best to use in dipping the balls in chocolate. Dip good and place on cookie sheet. As you dip them place them back on cookie sheet and keep chilled till firm.

There you have it…. four easy to make recipes which are tasty, fun and festive for the holidays. What are some of your favorite holiday treats?
