A friendly reminder for everyone who is in a relationship, or not in a relationship, the love holiday is right around the corner! 🙂 😦
For most couples, this is a time to show your significant other that you truly love them by showering them with roses, chocolates, or a candlelight dinner. However, for others, they would rather just spend time with their significant other doing fun things that they both enjoy.
In order to really make an impact on Valentine’s Day, it’s crucial to show your significant other that you honestly care. Roses, teddy bears, and candles are GREAT, but they don’t show your lover your true personality. Be sure to customize your celebration to fit your relationship or your partner’s personality. Making it unique and personable WILL 100% pay off.
We have come up with some ideas that roam away from the classic Valentine’s Day schedule. Please use these ideas or feel free to make our ideas better, and maybe even come up with fun things to do completely on your own. We would love to hear about what you come up with. 🙂
Book a weekend getaway.
Explore Google Chrome and find an Airbnb or luxurious hotel for an upcoming weekend getaway. If you’re wanting to travel, keep a place in mind that both of you have always wanted to see. If traveling isn’t on your bucket list, a “staycation” would be very pleasant as well. A “staycation” is a vacation spent at home or nearby, and it doesn’t need to be an extravagant trip, but instead just a few days of spending long quality time together.
Treat your partner (and yourself) to a couple’s spa day.
If it’s hard for you and your partner to find time to spend a few days or even one day in relaxation mode, contact a local spa and book a day-long couple’s retreat. You can get massages, facials, and take time to let the stress of the outside world melt away. Another great idea for a spa would be a DIY spa from home. If you have a bathtub this can be very simple, and a lot cheaper! You can have an alluring spa waiting at home for your significant other (or for both of you!) Some items you could use for an at home spa would be: bubble bath, bath bombs, essential oils, romantic music, massage oils, rose pedals to add to the bath water, flowers and champagne (just because).
Recreate your first date.
Now that you’re comfortable with each other and the nerves have left the building, recreating your first date is a fun and nostalgic way to celebrate your relationship. You can add to this idea as well! Start at the restaurant you first ate in however many years ago and then finish the night at the bar where you realized you were in love. If you put some meaning and personality behind the night, your partner will fall in love all over again. Who doesn’t want to feel those butterflies again?
Do something you’ve never done before.
Besides doing something you two love to do, set aside time on Valentine’s Day to do something you haven’t done. This is a great way to get out of a relationship “rut” or introduce something new into your lives. Take a risk on something brand new to you two, and you might learn something about yourselves or each other. If you don’t want to go out of your comfort zone, do the thing that you two love to do. As long as you’re enjoying each other’s company and are together on February 14th, that’s all that matters. 🙂
Spend the day in bed.
Reserve a day out of Valentine’s week or close to it to ignore the world with your significant other. Spending the day in bed is one of the most romantic things we’ve read in books or seen in movies, and it’s time to try it in reality. Turn off you phones and stay in your pajamas all day long. Today is not the day to get dressed.
Stay in with a bottle of wine and a good movie.
You aren’t being forced to spend the night out on Valentine’s Day. If you and your partner desire to hunker down on the couch with a cheap bottle of red wine, then do it. Pop on a movie and put some popcorn in the microwave. This is a great excuse to stay in sweatpants all night.
Cook a gourmet restaurant-worthy dinner
Take those dusty cookbooks off of the shelves and treat the love of your life to a celebrity chef-like dinner. Even if you’re not that comfortable in the kitchen, putting the time and effort into cooking dinner for your significant other is such a romantic gesture. If you both are working late on Valentine’s Day night and will be too tired to cook, food delivery services are an awesome alternative to cooking. The most effort you’ll have to do is answer the doorbell. Then you two can decide what to wear at your at-home-date. Whether you choose to dress up, or wear your pajamas at a candlelit table devouring pepperoni pizza, it’s your night to decide. Other ideas would be to eat your food on a blanket for an indoor picnic, or in bed watching your favorite movie.
A very romantic last minute date idea on Valentine’s Day is going to see the stars. Grab a blanket and some hot cocoa and get outside. Then you will have a moonlit night while you lie down next to your valentine and watch the sky above.
Have an ice cream social
Having an ice cream social for two people with a sweet tooth is the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. You can either make your own ice cream, which is actually ~very~ easy, or you may already have your favorites at your place. Be sure to have a variety of toppings ready, and you and your sweet can have a very sweet night.
Whatever you decide to do for Valentine’s Day, even if you and your love are busy, you can still have a memorable night. The point is that you two are together, which is the best Valentine’s Day gift of all, right?
